Rachel's Current:
After graduating from GMU, I moved to London, England and coached lacrosse on the high school and county level while continuing to play when I could. After one year, I moved back to the United States and took an assistant coaching job at my alma mater, GMU. Once the year and season was over, I went back to school and earned a nursing degree from George Washington University. I am currently working as an RN in Oncology at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
What did sport teach you?:
Lacrosse taught me a number of things. One of the greatest lessons I have learned through lacrosse, is that you don’t always win. Despite putting in your best effort, you fail. When you fail, whether it be a missed pass or shot, adapt rapidly, and keep moving because that’s what matters. In life after lacrosse, I have failed a number of times. I didn’t think I could finish nursing school, I hadn’t taken a science-related course since high school, and there were people around me who knew much more. But because of lacrosse, I don’t allow my failed projects or attempts to get the better of me. My failures are directly related to my future success. So don’t allow missed passes, wide shots, and fouls get you down. Instead, let it drive you to achieve success.
